Ducati has introduced its first single-cylinder Supermotard motorcycle, known as the all-new Hypermotard 698 Mono.
This new Hypermotard model incorporates advanced technical solutions borrowed from the Panigale series, enhancing the engine, electronics, and chassis to introduce Ducati to the Supermotard segment.
The Hypermotard 698 Mono boasts the all-new Superquadro Mono engine, recognized as the most high-performance single-cylinder road engine ever manufactured. This engine stands out with its remarkable 77.5 hp power output and an impressive 10,250 rpm, setting new standards within its category. Derived from the twin-cylinder engine of the 1299 Panigale, it inherits elements such as the 116 mm bore piston, combustion chamber, titanium intake, steel exhaust valves, and Desmodromic distribution, the same technology used by Ducati in MotoGP.
The electronic package of the Hypermotard 698 Mono makes it accessible for less experienced riders to learn the art of Supermotard riding, benefiting from ABS Cornering explicitly designed to handle "sideways riding" on the track. Experienced riders, on the other hand, can fully exploit the Superquadro Mono engine's high power and precise chassis.
In terms of design, the new Hypermotard 698 Mono exudes a typical Supermotard racing aesthetic with an essential, compact, and aggressive appearance, staying true to Ducati's design philosophy. Elements such as the high and flat seat, elevated front mudguard, sharp tail, and rear number plates all contribute to its Supermotard aesthetics.
Maintaining Ducati's signature style, the bike features five-spoke alloy wheels with a sporty "Y" design. A distinctive feature is the dual silencers mounted at the top, on the sides of the tail, a characteristic shared with the Hypermotard family and racing Supermotards.
The standard electronic equipment of the Hypermotard 698 Mono is the most comprehensive in its category, including controls like ABS Cornering, Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Wheelie Control, Engine Brake Control, Ducati Power Launch, and Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) Up/Down, available as an accessory for the standard version and provided as standard on the RVE version.
The Hypermotard 698 Mono offers four riding modes (Sport, Road, Urban, and Wet), with the Engine Mode (available in 3 levels), DTC, EBC, and ABS levels pre-assigned but customizable by the rider.
The Hypermotard 698 Mono is also the first Ducati motorcycle to offer four levels of ABS, with two incorporating the Slide-by-Brake functionality to enable safe and repeatable cornering during sporty riding on the track. It also features a level 4 ABS mode, designed for low-grip scenarios and associated with the Wet Riding Mode, ensuring maximum stability and safety. Additionally, the bike provides four levels of wheelie control.
This motorcycle is characterized by its compact and lightweight design, with a curb weight of 151 kg without fuel. It boasts a double-sided swingarm, both light and essential, operated through a progressive linkage with a fully adjustable rear shock absorber. The rims are equipped with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires, with measurements of 120/70 ZR 17 at the front and 160/60 ZR 17 at the rear.
